PIG CITY

It is a little hard for me, as a vegetarian, to smile on a design proposal about pig farming. But i think this is an innovative way of thinking. Dutch design firm MRVDV developed a Pig City to encourage better pig farming in Europe, given the lack of space.
The project is an excellent example of a visionary and sober approach to innovative design on a grand scale that integrates aspects concerning the environment, production technology and economics. Technologically, it is widely based on familiar solutions. It is with the talented combination of these aspects, its holistic approach, and its challenge of conventions that Pig City will make a difference.

Pig City has many advantages for the pig industry. The conditions for the pigs are better and it will improve the taste of the meat. Long-distance transportation is unnecessary, distribution and occurrence of diseases can be prevented and there is less space needed.
